In 1960, after extensive laboratory testing, granules of steel were melted which had a carbon content of less than 0.1%. The liquid melt was heated to 1,700¡ã C in 500 kg induction furnaces and atomised in a specially designed water jet.
1967
The Metalltechnik Schmidt GmbH & Co. company was founded in 1967 at a time when market demand was lively and sales were increasing.
1968
A new blasting shot works, equipped with the most up-to-date induction furnaces and technical facilities, was constructed in 1968 at its present location in Filderstadt-Plattenhardt.
1992/1998
In 1992 and 1998 the melting and processing capacity was replaced, extended and brought into line with the latest state of the art technology.
