Beijing Takes Measures to Expand Employment

In the first half of 2009, the employment situation in Beijing is basically stable, and the registered urban unemployment rate stays stable with a slight decline. As of the end of June, the increased urban employed people have been 281,400, including 52,600 people with difficulties in employment and 48,200 rural people in transfer employment. The accumulative urban registered unemployed people have totaled in 220,400, of whom 103,600 have been employed. The registered urban unemployment rate is 1.82%, decreasing by 0.07 percentage point year-on-year.
In order to cope with the international financial crisis, Beijing has issued six new policies and measures in stabilizing employment, creating jobs, becoming self-employed, implementing vocational training, making basic arrangement and promoting employment services for migrant workers.
