Every two years the industry elite meets at AMB, one of the top exhibitions for machine tools and precision tools, "in the key to markets" at Stuttgart Trade Fair Centre, Germany. AMB will open its doors again from 16 to 20 September 2014, and is expected to attract around 1,300 exhibitors and over 90,000 visitors.
"Past experience shows that many companies present their future-oriented innovations in the areas of precision tools and machine tools to the public for the first time at AMB," emphasizes Gunnar Mey, Project Manager for Precision Tools and Peripherals at AMB.
That said, some industrial experts are describing “Sensor-based, intelligently networked control systems and wireless communicating production machines can monitor, optimize and reconfigure production plants” will be the direction the trend is heading.
According to the organizers, some exhibitors are already providing a preview of AMB 2014. One of them is DMG MORI, its Celos in a large number of DMG MORI machines, including Celos apps, will be seen at AMB 2014. Celos links the workshop and superordinate company structures. The user can make changes directly in real time while his information and changes are also transferred in real time to the production planning department. In other words, Celos creates the basis for continuously digitalised and paperless production, and therefore forms the centrepiece of intelligent networked production.
Besides, Shenyang Machine Tool (Group) Co, Ltd, one of the largest manufacturers of machine tools in China, will present a complete series of machines each with different configuration levels at AMB 2014. As said, in five-year time, SMTCL will offer machines which were developed in Germany. Large numbers of the platforms will then be built in China for world markets. Precision parts, i.e. the modules, will be produced in Aschersleben, Germany, where the company is investing a sum of 20 million euros in production.
Visitors to AMB 2014 will be able to see innovations and further developments from the metal-cutting and precision tool industries, but also chucking tools, CAD, CAM, CAE, software, grinding machines, handling of workpieces and tools, as well as measurement technology on a gross exhibition area of around 105,000sqm. The exhibition will be supported by the promotional supporters VDMA Precision Tools Association, VDMA Software Association and the Association of German Machine Tool Manufacturers (VDW)
