Munich, November 20, 2014 – Continuing its tradition of sharing knowledge and experience with similar-minded organisations in the common goal of advancing solar technologies, the EU PVSEC is cooperating partner at the 6th World Conference on Photovoltaic Energy Conversion (WCPEC-6). The WCPEC-6 takes place from 23 – 27 November 2014 in Kyoto, Japan, combines the strengths of the 24th Asia/Pacific International Photovoltaic Science and Engineering Conference (PVSEC), the 30th European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference and Exhibition (EU PVSEC), and the American 41st IEEE Photovoltaic Specialists Conference (IEEE PVSC).

The last World Conference on Photovoltaic Energy Conversion (WCPEC-5) was hosted by the EU PVSEC in 2010 in Valencia, Spain.

The WCPEC International Advisory Committee is chaired by S. Bailey, NASA, USA, with Vice-Chairs H. Ossenbrink, EC JRC, Europe, and M. Konagai, TokyoTech, Japan.

The forthcoming Kyoto Conference is focusing on core areas of photovoltaics such as c-Si, thin-film materials (Si, CIGS, CdTe), III-V materials and organic materials, as well as on PV fundamentals, new materials, modules and system development, concentrators, space applications and national programs and policies.

WCPEC-6 and Kyoto Background

WCPEC-6 opens on Sunday 23rd November, 2014 with a pre-conference that will provide opportunities for educational enhancement on a variety of tutorial topics. The four-day conference takes place from Monday through Thursday 24-27 November, 2014, at the Kyoto International Conference Centre in Kyoto, Japan. Kyoto with more than a thousand years of history is located in the heart of Japan.

The Kyoto International Conference Center served as the venue for the COP3 (Kyoto Protocol Climate Conference) in 1997.In 2014 the topics climate change and global warming remain major news, foreshadowing the integral need to make renewable sources contribute substantially to the world's energy needs, as well as help solve pressing environmental concerns.

EU PVSEC 2015 Scheduled for September in Hamburg, Germany

The EU PVSEC builds on 38 years of relevance and excellence. Next year's EU PVSEC 2015 will take place from 14 – 18 September 2015 at the CCH (Congress Centre Hamburg), Hamburg, Germany. The CCH building complex allows for a compact layout of the EU PVSEC 2015 with the Conference, Industry Exhibition and Parallel Events located in close proximity.

PV solar experts will meet in Hamburg to discuss new concepts, trends and developments in science and industry, as photovoltaic solar energy becomes a major electricity source on the world stage. The EU PVSEC continues its focus on relevant applied and policy-oriented topics.
