A quill (2) comprises the following: a fixed-side quill (11) affixed to a spindle housing (50) and a tip-side quill (20A-20C), to which a grinding wheel (40) is attached, and which is removably joined to the fixed-side quill (11). At the point where the fixed-side quill (11) and the tip-side quill (20A-20C) are joined to each other, flat surfaces (C, C') that are perpendicular to the axis (T) of the quill (2) are placed up against each other. A first drive shaft (17) is disposed inside the fixed-side quill (11), and a second drive shaft (27), which rotates together with the grinding wheel (40), is disposed inside the tip-side quill (20A-20C). The first drive shaft (17) and the second drive shaft (27) are removably coupled to each other.
