The Norton R980 range can be used to grind a variety of materials including high nickel alloys, super alloys, cobalt chrome, titanium and stainless steel and the new "supersize grinding aid" enables a cooler cut when compared with existing ceramic belt designs. A new resin bond system also extends the life of the belt. In a recent test with an industrial gas turbine manufacturer the SG R980 produced a 366% improvement on the number of parts ground without burn compared with a competitor product. Similarly, a test for a prosthetic knee manufacturer delivered a 156% improvement on the number of parts ground without breakage. The Norton R980 range comes in grit sizes 24, 36, 40, 50, 60 and 80 grit. Belts are available in a variety of widths up to 1320mm wide.
