India's rough lab grown diamonds imports exceed $200 million for the first time in March 2022

According to GJEPC, India's rough lab grown diamonds imports in March 2022 were US$203 million, exceeding the US$200 million mark for the first time, up 157.10% year-on-year and 31% month-on-month, with total lab grown diamonds imports accounting for 10% of total diamonds imports in March.
India's polished lab grown diamonds exports in March amounted to $137 million, up 59.45% year-on-year and 8.7% month-on-month, of which total lab grown diamonds exports accounted for 5.9% of total diamonds exports in March.
Lab grown diamonds penetration continues to increase, according to GJEPC data, in March 2022, India's lab grown diamonds penetration rate on the import side was 9.06%, up 3.73% year-on-year, while the export side penetration rate was 5.87%, up 2.02% year-on-year.India
