BUDMA 2009

The International Construction Fair BUDMA 2009 held in Poznań from 20 to 23 January under the theme "inspired by nature" promoted environmentally-friendly solutions.
This year, at the fair in Poznań there were almost 1,350 companies from 35 countries showcasing their products and services on the exhibition space of 41,000 m2, thus proving the international profile of the event. The exposition was attended by nearly 65,000 visitors from Poland and abroad.
For different sectors
The International Construction Fair BUDMA is a presentation of companies that address their offer among others to contractors, developers, as well as individual and institutional investors who are interested in construction projects from their design to a closed-in building.

If you consider the quality and diversity of companies and brands that were there at the fair, the market offer has been truly impressive this year. The exhibitors showcased their new products in a couple of thematic shows: Walls and Facades, Windows, Doors and Gates, Roofs, Wood in Construction, Stone in Construction, Roads and Pavements or IT for Construction. Fair attendees could visit the Sports Construction Centre with an interesting offer for sports facilities and infrastructure as well as home recreation. The Trade Fair of Machines and Components for Windows, Doors, Gates and Facades Production WinDoor-tech was held simultaneously, providing valuable expertise for the production sector.
Construction for the environment
This year, fair attendees were extremely interested in showcased solutions for eco-friendly construction with savings in mind. Therefore, the Village of Wooden Houses that has been organised at the fair was indeed besieged with visitors. It featured a passive house that is an example of a new tendency in detached house construction aimed at a substantive reduction of operational costs of residential buildings. The fair presentation of Natura 2009, where the exhibitors promoted solutions that actually help build in the spirit of environmental responsibility, provided even more information about state-of-the-art construction materials.

WinDoor-tech
The premiere edition of the Trade Fair of Machines and Components for Windows, Doors, Gates and Facades Production WinDoor-tech has received much acclaim both from the exhibitors and visitors interested in its offer. A clear-cut separation of the exhibition space (about 6,500 m2) with stands of 130 exhibitors from 29 countries made it easier to learn about the latest efficient technologies employed in the production of door and window joinery. The offer of manufacturers and distributors of machines and components for this sector included solutions that help streamline production and upgrade the quality of finished products. The next edition of the WinDoor-tech fair will be held in two years' time, in 2011.

Sports Construction Centre
Upon the invitation of MiÄ™dzynarodowe Targi PoznaÅ„skie and the Polish Sports Infrastructure Club, the organisers of the Sports Construction Centre, the fair was attended by a large number of local government officials who are key clients of companies presenting their offers in the exposition. In three pavilions, over 100 exhibitors showcased the latest solutions on the space that has been divided thematically. This year's edition of the Sports Construction Centre has proved that the sports construction sector is not only alive and kicking, but also has some interesting prospects ahead. Yet another positive signal is sent by the programmes supported by the government, such as „My Playing Field: Orlik 2012", which includes construction of free of charge public complexes of playing fields together with changing rooms and personnel facilities in each and every Polish commune.

During the Civil Engineering Day, attended by the Minister Olgierd Dziekoński and other officials from the Ministry of Infrastructure, there were discussions on energy assessment of buildings. The number of attendees interested in this subject was beyond any expectations, which came as a nice surprise for the organisers. Participants were mostly interested in the principles of obtaining energy certificates and bank loans for thermal modernisation.
The Architecture Day, where representatives of SARP and the Chamber of Polish Architects discussed the role of landscape and space in architecture, has turned out to be an important block of meetings. The conclusion from the meeting was that an architect should also be an advisor in the project, and should take into account the environmental and social dimension when designing. The Architecture Day began with a vernissage of the exhibition of winners of SARP Awards of the Year. By courtesy of the KLAFS company, innovative works were presented at an exhibition entitled „Roadshow Delta 115°: visionary architecture of spa equipment".
The second Polish Tile Laying Championships attracted crowds of craftsmen from all over Poland who cheered 20 competitors that have been selected at earlier regional qualifying events. The competition theme was the „Vitruvian Man": a drawing of a man inscribed in a circle and square presenting human body proportions and popularised by Leonardo da Vinci. The Polish Association of Tile Layers, a co-organiser of the Championships, has organised an auction of competition works. The proceedings from the auction will be donated to the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity.
Prestigious awards
Thirteen products exhibited at the Budma fair and two from the Sports Construction Centre have received the MTP Gold Medal. The MTP Gold Medal has 30 years' tradition and is a distinction that helps in market competition; it stands for the product qualities, modernity and innovation. During the evening gala, the exhibitors of Budma, CBS and WinDoor-tech were presented with Acanthus Aureus awards granted to companies for their exhibition stands that have a special way of reflecting the marketing strategy. The BUDMA fair also featured the fifth Award Ceremony of the Top Construction Brand and the Top Distributor. In this year's ranking, organised jointly by ASM Market Research and Analysis Centre and MiÄ™dzynarodowe Targi PoznaÅ„skie, a total of 60 companies have received distinctions and awards.Furthermore, at the fair the results of the 3rd edition of the „Artificial Light Architecture" competition were announced, with awards presented to installations with lighting systems of Philips, the competition sponsor.

BUDMA and BUMASZ 2010
The next edition of BUDMA in PoznaÅ„ will be held on 19-22 January 2010, with sustainable construction as the theme. It will be accompanied by the International Fair of Construction Machines, Vehicles and Equipment BUMASZ as well as the Sports Construction Centre. According to the organisers, the next edition of the PoznaÅ„ ‘construction festival' is going to be even more comprehensive and complementary. The fair offer will feature solutions for residential housing as well as industrial and road construction together with ideas for technical infrastructure (power plants, gas pipelines) and public buildings.
