Geologic Treasures from around the World Include Exclusive World-Class Mineral Exhibits, Gems and Jewelry at the Historic Presidio



The 57th annual San Francisco Gem and Mineral Society Show and Sale (SFGMS), the original and most established exhibition of its kind in the city, will be held on Saturday, August 6, and Sunday, August 7, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the historic Presidio at the Golden Gate Club, 135 Fisher Loop.


Ample free parking is available close to the club on the Main Post, near the Walt Disney Family Museum. Detailed driving directions and public transportation options are available at sfgems.org.


Show highlights include an exclusive display of world-class specimens by renowned mineral crystal collector Jack Halpern. Halpern is known for his spectacular collection of museum-quality exhibits.



Business Wire - Exclusive museum-quality exhibits from renowned mineral crystal collector Jack Halpern will be displayed during the 57th annual San Francisco Gem and Mineral Society Show and Sale on Saturday, August 6, and Sunday, August 7, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Golden Gate Club in the historic Presidio. This original and most established exhibition of its kind in the city features 52 exhibits, 24 dealers and several educational demonstrations. The spectacular mineral exhibit shown here, one of Halpern's rare crystalline Rhodochrosite specimens, is from the Sweet Home Mine in Alma, Colorado.


Consistent with this year's theme, "A Sea of Gems," many specimens reflect colors associated with the ocean. The show features 52 extraordinary exhibits and 24 top dealers – dozens of rock, gem and jewelry vendors offering rough lapidary, gem materials, and unique jewelry rarely found in malls or retail stores. SFGMS also presents educational on-site demonstrations of carving, lapidary and beadwork.


Door prizes will be awarded every hour and a raffle conducted on Sunday.


Admission cost for adults is $10. Seniors and students pay $8. Children under 12 are admitted Free with a paid adult. A $2 discount is available for adults with a show flyer, a printed ad with the coupon or click on the Web site www.sfgemshow.org/ for a printable copy. Bring the coupon to the show and present it for $2 off the $10 general adult admission price.


In addition, the public is invited to attend the second annual SFGMS fundraiser at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday evening, August 6. The fundraiser for this non-profit, all-volunteer educational organization includes a buffet dinner, wine, and a live auction of fine jewelry, gemstones, specimens, materials and equipment.
